As part of the Department of Music's PureGold season, we present an evening recital by PhD student Christine-Ani Tokatlian

Christine will be performing works by Armenian composers have been using in the treatment of their works for keyboard mainly after the Independence of the country, in 1991.

Composers being performed include Aristakessian, Komitas, Baghdassarian, E. Arutiounian, A. Arutiounian. These works are rarely performed and some of them will be UK premiers. They were all written throughout the 20th c. and are representative of the different styles Armenian composers served-combining folk elements with Western avant-garde techniques, either before or during the socialist-realist period.
