Event overview
Exhibition opening
The Alternative Library offers participants the stimulus to re-appropriate, re-utilize and transform found materials. Essentially however it also requires the responsibility to give back, to replenish the shelves with other found materials that are selected to inspire with thought for others - for communal use.
The re-evaluated status of found materials/objects/stuff, is set provocatively juxtaposed in a culturally revered library context, investigating our unconsidered, waste throw-out-buy-again mentality and relationship with consumerism and the environment.
Elements of re-appropriation and play, through a participatory approach, suggest alternatives for environmental responsibility.
Exhibition continues in Library Foyer until 25th July
