Bruno Verner and Eliete Mejorado in conversation with Gavin Butt - part of ‘Post-Punk Then and Now’, the Visual Cultures Public Programme Autumn 2014

Bruno Verner is a musician & poet. Eliete Mejorado is a performance artist, musician & filmmaker. They are best known for their work with tropical punk art duo Tetine which they formed together in São Paulo in 1995.

Verner and Mejorado discuss the 1980s post-punk scene in Southern Brasil and their contemporary work as Tetine. Issues will include gambiarra, sexual politics, club culture, Tropicália, funk carioca, and the potential of post-punk performance in the globalised contemporary art world.

Post-Punk Then and Now is a series of talks & film screenings exploring post-punk’s popular modernist search for the new from the 1970s to today.

Series chairs: Gavin Butt, Kodwo Eshun & Mark Fisher

The event is free and no booking is required … all are welcome.
