Event overview
A chance for students to discuss and debate issues related to their mental health at university with staff from Goldsmiths.
Chaired by Elisabeth Hill
Head of the Psychology Department and recently appointed as Pro-Warden for Learning and Teaching
In 2012 Goldsmiths had 174 students who had disclosed a mental health condition. This year 361 students have disclosed a mental health condition an increase of over 100% in just over two years. Other universities report similar increases across the UK.
Are our universities making students ill, or is this just a reflection of increased mental health difficulties generally?
Join us for a lively debate to explore these issues and to find out what strategies Goldsmiths has for tackling this growing issue.
The debate features Rachel-Rose Burrell-Murphy, the Head of the Counselling Service and Barry Hayward, Head of Disability Services. There will be contributions from other speakers and from the floor.
It will be chaired by Elisabeth Hill, the Head of the Psychology Department and recently appointed as Pro-Warden for Learning and Teaching
