Screening of InRealLife (2013), followed by a talk and discussion with director Beeban Kidron.

InRealLife asks what exactly is the internet and what is it doing to our children? Taking us on a journey from the bedrooms of British teenagers to the world of Silicon Valley, filmmaker Beeban Kidron suggests that rather than the promise of free and open connectivity, young people are increasingly ensnared in a commercial world. Beguiling and glittering on the outside, it can be alienating and addictive.

The World Premiere of InRealLife was held at the Toronto International Film Festival 2013.

Beeban Kidron is a British filmmaker who has spent the last 30 years working in feature film, television drama and documentary. She is the co-director of Cross Street Films. In 2006, Kidron co-founded the educational charity IntoFilm (previously Film Club), which has set up over 8000 film clubs across the UK. In 2012, she was appointed to the House of Lords where she sits as a Crossbench Peer. Baroness Kidron is also founder of iRights - a campaign to adopt a rights based approach to young people online.

The event is organised by Goldsmiths Anthropology Society. The event is free and open for everyone interested.
