Dr Chen Zhong (UCL) introduces her smart card data analysis projects, and discusses how this type of data could be used for urban studies.

Guest speaker: Dr Chen Zhong, The Barlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis, UCL

There is a rapid rise of interests in data-related research in recent years, mostly because that never before has it been so easy to collect such cheap and large amounts of mobility data with fine spatiotemporal granularity.

Chen Zhong currently works at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis, University College London, as a research associate. Her research interests include spatial analysis, data mining, and spatial network analysis. In this talk, Chen will introduce her past and ongoing projects about smart card data analysis, and discuss how this specific type of data could be used for urban studies.

The Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) is one of the leading forces in the science of cities, generating new knowledge and insights for use in city planning, policy and design and drawing on the latest geospatial methods and ideas in computer-based visualisation and modelling.
