Loan lengths

  • Ordinary loans are 3 week loans with white date labels.
  • Short loans are 7 days or 3 days with coloured date labels.
  • REFERENCE ONLY cannot be borrowed. They have a yellow band on the cover.

Overdue items and fines

Fines are charged if you do not return your items by the due date shown on your self-service receipt or stamped date label.

Ordinary loan 10p per day
Recalled loan 20p per day
Other loans 50p per day

You cannot borrow more items until the overdue items are returned or renewed.

If your fines exceed £10.00 you cannot borrow or renew your items.

You can pay your fines at the Library using our self-service kiosks any time (cash only), at the Help Desk when it is open or by contacting the Library.

Lost and unreturned books

You will be charged a replacement cost for any lost or unreturned items on your Library account.

Students finishing their courses need to clear all outstanding items to access a Goldsmiths Library Alumni account.
