Save your Library Search e-shelf

This term, we are changing the system which is used to deliver Library Search. Before 1 December, make sure you save your ‘e-shelf’ list of references or they will be lost when we move to the new system.

Primary page content

Your e-shelf list of references is also known as 'favourites' or 'pinned items'.

There are two easy ways we recommend for saving your list: email it to yourself, and/or download a .RIS file (which you could then import to reference management software).

Unfortunately, you will not be able to import your list of references back into Library Search. You will be able to create a new list after 6 December.

To save your list

  1. Sign in to Library Search
  2. Click on the ‘pin’ icon at the top right, beside your name
  3. Check the checkbox under the heading ‘My Favorites’ to select all records in the list. (You can also select individual items if you don’t want the entire list.)
  4. Click on the ‘three dots’ icon. A box will pop up with several options

Email it to yourself

  1. Click on the ‘Email’ icon. A box will pop up with your email address already filled in. You can change the email address, and add a note if you wish
  2. Select the ‘I’m not a robot’ checkbox, follow the instructions, and click on ‘Verify’
  3. Press the ‘Send’ button. You will receive an email from no-reply-library@gold.ac.uk with the Subject heading ‘Items from the Goldsmiths Catalogue’

Download a .RIS file

  1. Click on the ‘Export RIS’ icon
  2. Press the ‘Download’ button. Save your file and make sure you pay attention to where you saved it

View how to download the .RIS  file and import it to Zotero in the Zotero Tutorial video – ‘Part 2: Adding References with Zotero’ (skip forward to 3:29) on the Academic Skills Online LibGuide.
