How we support Public Engagement
Public Engagement at Goldsmiths not only supports innovative, interactive events, but contributes to grant writing, training and a suite of resources that strengthens our public culture.
Our approach to public engagement activity aims to nurture ethical dialogues and collaborations beyond Higher Education that foster a sense of shared endeavour, helping us address the most urgent challenges of 21st century life. It is bold, seeking to innovate and set the sector standard for creative and progressive approaches.
Our definition of public engagement encompasses the different ways specific publics are engaged in a dialogue with the design, process, outcomes and evaluation of our research and scholarship, leading to benefits for all involved. Everything we support is collaborative, with a focus in embedding coproduction and challenging hierarchies.
Our aim is to support as many Goldsmiths researchers as possible to engage meaningfully and ethically with as many people as possible.
We do this by providing:
- Formal development opportunities
- One-to-one support
- A suite of guides, toolkits and templates
- Internal networks, including the Civic and Public Engagement Forum
- Local, regional and national partnership opportunities
- Micro-grants to develop public engagement activities
- Creative production leadership of major public engagement initiatives
- Support for external funding applications
Goldsmiths researchers can access a range of resources to support their public engagement aspirations on Goldmine.
