Almuth McDowell, Birkbeck, discusses current evidence-based research on executive rewards.

After a successful career in health and fitness, as a personal instructor working primarily with performing artists, Almuth retrained in psychology. She now combines her academic post at Birkbeck College with consultancy across the public and private sector.

She has authored over 100 publications including books, book chapters, peer reviewed articles and conference papers, and also edits an international coaching journal. Her research has been featured in the press, including Grazia Magazine, the Financial Times and the Sunday Times, and she regularly speaks on national and regional radio.

Almuth’s particular research interest is work-life balance, and in particular self-management competence and working with the emergency services. As a Chartered Psychologist and past chair of the Division of Occupational Psychology, she is committed to bringing an evidence-based approach to all her work.
