Performance as part of the launch of the new MSc in Psychology of the Arts, Neuroaesthetics and Creativity

In collaboration with Dr Guido Orgs, neuroscientist at Goldsmiths College, University of London Our True Feelings draws on a summary of studies of emotion research from a cognitive scientific perspective. In bringing the disciplines of science and art into collision, we found ourselves on shifting grounds between that which can be established as knowledge through empirical evidence, and that which relies on a wild, stab in the dark sort of conviction from bodily experience. What if we acknowledge that all knowledges arise from a position. What if we were to relax our position?

From this perspective, scientific knowledge therefore becomes material that has equal status to the material of dancers playing at re-enacting charged emotional state. Our True Feelings combines the rituals of choreographic ordering with the rituals conducting and presenting a scientific experiment with a hope to understand how we are duped and seduced by our feelings.

Our True Feelings by Dog Kennel Hill Project forms part of a trilogy of works made between 2015 - 2018 entitled Etudes in Tension and Crisis addressing relationship conflict, the choreography of arguments and contemporary uncertainty in surprising ways.
This production was supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, and was developed at and supported by The Yard Theatre and supported by La Traversee, and Modern Art Oxford.
Collaborative Performers: Dr Guido Orgs, Rachel Lopez de la Nieta and Helka Kaski
Outside direction : Henrietta Hale
