Visibility, Representation, and Pride

Dr Anna Carlile and Professor Carrie Paechter will discuss their research on the experiences of LGBTQI+ parents and their children, and their relationships with schools. They will discuss the experiences of LGBTQI+ parents, school inclusion strategies, school policies and the representation of LGBTQI+ parents in the media. Central to the paper will be the voices of the LGBTQI+ parents and children interviewed, and their stories of resistance, resilience and dignity.

Anna is a Senior Lecturer in the Goldsmiths Department of Educational Studies. Her areas of research and teaching focus on inclusion and social justice.

Carrie is Director of the Nottingham Centre for Children, Young People and Families at Nottingham Trent University. Carrie’s research is focused around questions of identity and childhood.
