Goldsmiths Writers' Centre presents...On page and screen: an evening with Courttia Newland

Courttia Newland has been a major figure on the UK literary scene since the publication of his debut, The Scholar, in 1997. Since then he has published six further works of fiction and his short stories have been broadcast on Radio 4 and widely anthologised, including in Best of British Short Stories 2017. As a screenwriter he wrote two feature length films for the Steve McQueen BBC series Small Axe, of which “Lovers Rock” was jury selected for Cannes, opened New York Film Fest 2020, and was voted Sight and Sound’s Best Film of 2020. His new novel, A River Called Time, and a collection of speculative fiction, Cosmogramma, are published by Canongate. He joins us to discuss his work.
