Award-winning journalist Marina Cantacazino MBE, Founder, The Forgiveness Project, and legendary poet, live artist and literary activist Dorothea Smartt Frsl

To mark International Women’s Day* the women at goldsmiths network (co-chairs Helen Cocker and Deirdre Osborne) and the EDI team would like to invite you to a panel discussion, women, justice, forgiveness with the award-winning journalist Marina Cantacazino MBE, founder of the forgiveness project, and legendary poet, live artist and literary activist, Dorothea Smartt Frsl, chaired by Deirdre Osborne. We think through questions concerning the issues women face today in a world presenting increasing challenges for maintaining freedom, safety and self-expression.

The panel is followed by a film screening of “Free Angela and All Political Prisoners”, the acclaimed 2012 documentary directed by Shola Lynch that chronicles the life of Angela Y. Davis and her lifelong activism dedicated to radical struggle. The film recounts Prof. Davis’s early life and education, her centrality to Black Panther and feminist activism, through to being placed on the FBI’s most-wanted list, facing trial, and the enduring legacy of this period in the history of protest movements.

* International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year IWD encourages us to imagine a gender equal world, free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A diverse, equitable, and inclusive world. A world where we value and celebrate difference. We #EmbraceEquality.
