Hugo Greenhalgh in conversation with Adam Mars-Jones about hidden gay histories and his forthcoming book The Diaries of Mr Lucas.

Hugo Greenhalgh's forthcoming book The Diaries of Mr Lucas includes extensive excerpts from the diaries of a gay man living in London bnefore the decriminlalisation of sexual acts between men, a civil servant by day and frequenter of the gay scene by night. Hugo knew Mr Lucas for many years, and was left his diaries with permission to edit and publish. They offer a fascinating and wildly indiscreet glimpse into a vanished world, put into context by Hugo Greenhalgh's commentary.

Hugo Greenhalgh has been a journalist for more than 25 years. He is the editor of Openly, the LGBTQ+ news website from the Thomson Reuters Foundation. Before that he worked for the Financial Times. He has been nominated for the European Press Prize, Amnesty International's Media Awards and the GLAAD Media Awards.
