An exhibition that celebrates over 90 computational artists' works spanning live performances, interactive installations, AR/VR, web art, sound, video.

The 2024 Goldsmiths MA/MFA Computational Arts program invites you to the degree show exhibition: This is why the whole remains open [...]. An exhibition that celebrates over 90 computational artists' works spanning live performances, interactive installations, AR/VR, web art, sound, video.

Embracing a decentralized ethos, this exhibition challenges traditional hierarchies through distributed authorship and open dialogue. The result is a fluid tapestry of computational creativity that resists closure and invites continuous reinterpretation, constantly negotiating technological engagement.

Six chromatic pathways weave this ever-evolving landscape:
• Purple delves into the realms of memory, time, and the subconscious, exploring esoteric symbolism and hidden knowledge.
• Yellow excavates digital archives and cultural artifacts, decoding the languages and signals that shape our shared knowledge.
• Light Blue reveals the recursive patterns and emergent phenomena of nature and non-human intelligence, blurring the lines between organic and artificial.
• Blue maps speculative worlds and alternative narratives, charting fluid borders between physical and digital spaces while engaging with sociopolitical realities and methodologies of mapping
• Pink challenges notions of identity and representation, examining the (in)computable self and the datafication of our bodies in the digital age.
• Green features a scheduled programme of live performances and immersive experiences

By utilizing the church's layered architecture as both metaphor and canvas, we expand the exhibition beyond physical confines, fostering new relational dynamics between artworks and spaces. This open-ended approach mirrors the very nature of computational art—always in flux, resisting finality.
