Does local journalism matter?

The Media Forum series returns with a stellar panel to discuss one of the most troubling issues of our times: the closing of hundreds of local newspaper titles across Britain in the past 20 years. It is local journalism that holds local authorities and public services to account and helps build community cohesion. What, if anything, can be done? What is being done?

Jason Gibbins, editor of the BBC’s Local Democracy Service
Edward Jennings, editor, Local Authority
David Floyd, Managing director, Social Spider
Moderator: Goldsmiths' Professor Natalie Fenton
