Venezuela has dominated news headlines around the world ever since its president, Nicolas Maduro, was abducted by the US military on 3 January. In this community lecture, Al Jazeera journalist and filmmaker Sanjiev Johal will be screening his film which charts the history and politics of oil as part of an age-old class struggle for political and economic sovereignty in Venezuela. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Dr Marcela Pizarro Coloma and Dr Marcos Ortiz Finch, as well as an audience Q&A.
