Event overview
An in person and online symposium of the MA Designing Education at Goldsmiths, in partnership with the Masters in EdTech at the Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia.
The Designing Education Symposium 'DesignED' convenes educators, designers, researchers and students to examine how design operates not simply as method, but as a way of knowing, organising and transforming education.
Bringing together voices working across activism, decolonial practice and global creative education, the symposium explores how educational futures are shaped through making, critical inquiry and design practice.
Guest speakers include:
• Sarah Corbett on craftivism as a form of gentle protest and civic imagination
• Audrey Dralega on creative education and the Global South
• Dori Tunstall on decolonising design and institutional transformation
Postgraduate students and alumni from the MA Designing Education programme will present practice-based projects that situate education as a site of experimentation, care and systemic change. Our academic partners from the EdTech master’s programme at UM University, Indonesia, will host a panel reflecting on educational futures.
The design studio within the MA Designing Education programme at Goldsmiths brings together educators engaging with design and creative practitioners applying their practice to educational contexts. The symposium reflects this dialogue between pedagogy and practice.
The symposium invites participation both in person and online.
