'Burden of Other People's Dreams: Chapter One – Ganymede' is a surreal memoir of Joe Bini's life as a filmmaker, set out as a live cinema experience for one audience member at a time.

From 10-12 March, internationally acclaimed filmmaker, editor and writer Joe Bini (Grizzly Man, We Need To Talk About Kevin) is bringing his live cinema experience 'Burden of Other People's Dreams: Chapter One – Ganymede' to Goldsmiths ahead of its premiere at CPH:Dox.

It's a story told by an author who refuses to be an author, so they try to convince you that you are the author. Which is ridiculous, since clearly you’re the reader.
But then it turns into a film and suddenly you’re a viewer. Which is even more ridiculous.
If all that wasn’t bad enough, the so-called author can’t even bother to put names or faces on the characters and all the scenes take place in empty rooms. Before you know it, the author has disappeared altogether and you find yourself in the middle of a ghost story that you yourself supposedly have to invent.
You might be saying: I don’t understand. Is it a movie? A book? Or what?

It’s all of those things at the same time. Especially the “or what” part.

It's staged for one audience member at a time. Allow yourself 80 minutes to experience it.
Spaces are limited, so please book now to be allocated a space.

Joe is also kindly delivering a masterclass on 12 March 2026 in IGLT https://www.gold.ac.uk/calendar/?id=15874
