An installation and practice research into belonging when studying, with Rose Sinclair and Miranda Matthews, School of Design and School of Mind, Body and Society

The Home, Space & Belonging project invites students from across the Faculties to gather to make textiles practices and take part in practice research.

You are invited to an installation on College Green and reflect on questions such as:

What does it mean in the 21st Century to move away from home and study?
What does it mean to stay in the city, town, or local area of your birth and study?
What does it mean to belong if you are the first person from your family to attend university?
What does home become when you move away to study?
What spaces make you happy?

Going away to study, no matter how far you have to travel, is a big moment in one's life.

How do you know you belong and what is the moment when that changes?
Does it ever feel like home? can it ever feel like home?
Are home and belonging two different things?

Join Goldsmiths designer Rose Sinclair, and arts educator and practitioner Miranda Matthews, to explore these questions through textile practices and creative writing.
