Join us to hear writers Ben Pester and Nell Stevens read from and discuss their new short story collections, ‘Sail Away Land’ and ‘The Good Time’

The Goldsmiths Writers’ Centre, under the directorship of Tom Lee and Amy Sackville, exists to encourage new writing, to stimulate debate about all forms of literature, and create links between the different parts of the college where creative writing takes place.

Ben Pester is the author of the short story collection Am I in the Right Place? and the novel The Expansion Project, which was shortlisted for the Nero Book Awards and the Goldsmiths Prize. He lives in London.

Nell Stevens writes memoir and fiction. Her debut novel, Briefly, a Delicious Life was longlisted for the 2023 Dylan Thomas Award. She is also the author of Bleaker House and Mrs Gaskell & Me, which won the 2019 Somerset Maugham Award. She was shortlisted for the BBC National Short Story Award in 2018. Her writing is published in The New Yorker, the New York Times, Vogue, The Paris Review, New York Review of Books, Guardian, Granta and elsewhere. Nell is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Warwick.
