Professor John Morton, Institute of Cognitive Neuropsychology, UCL
Title: Explorations of inter-state amnesia in dissociative identity disorder

Abstract:
Forgetting an event can take a number of forms. The ones of interest involve the inability to retrieve the information from autobiographical memory vs retrieving the information but it not being available to consciousness. I will present a number of studies aimed at exploring this distinction, particularly in the context of hypnotic amnesia and dissociative identity disorder. In particular, I will talk about one woman with DID who has turned into a multi-talented painter.
