'Caribbean Upon Awakening' is a bilingual edition of rich poetry of Blas Jiménez, Dominican poet, intellectual and activist who died in November 2009.

The volume offers an introduction to Jiménez, a critical assessment of the Spanish version of the text, 'Caribe Africano en Despertar' and an English translation of the poetry.

The text will be introduced by Conrad James, Lecturer in Hispanic Literature from the University of Birmingham and Antonio Tillis, translator, will read extracts from the collection.
