Jackie Kay will be reading from and discussing her memoir 'Red Dust Road' as part of the Richard Hoggart Lecture series

Jackie Kay was born in Edinburgh, the daughter of a Scottish mother and Nigerian father, and was brought up by her adoptive parents in Glasgow.

She has published several collections of poetry, including 'The Adoption Papers', a novel, 'Trumpet', based on the life of the jazz musician Billy Tipton, and has also written stories and plays. 'Red Dust Road' describes the experience of meeting her birth parents and was published to wide acclaim earlier this year.
