The sixth 'Pat Kavanagh Prize', awarded annually to a graduate of the MA creative writing programme. The £500 prize, created in memory of the much admired literary agent, who died in 2008, is awarded by a team of her colleagues at United Agents; the previous winners were Jonathan Holt, David Nash, Giovanna Iozzi, Julia Rotte & Luiza Sauma.

Readings by the fifteen shortlisted writers, after which Sarah Ballard of United Agents will announce the decision.

The shortlisted writers are:

Rachael Thomas; Winnie Li; Nicholas Burbidge; Elaine Castillo;
Bronwen Burgess; Paul Carney; Sarah Leipciger; Andrea Watts;
Rosemary Rowell; Helen Wilkinson; Jeremy Worman; John Wilks;
Alan Ramsey; Yoanna Pak; Robyn Law
