Bernardine Evaristo will read from her work and reflect on the art of writing innovative fiction.
Bernardine Evaristo's seven books of fiction and verse fiction include her most recent novel Mr Loverman, about a septuagenarian Caribbean-Londoner who is closet homosexual (Penguin 2013). Her writing also spans short fiction, essays, literary criticism, and stage and radio drama. Two of her novels have been adapted into BBC Radio 4 plays since 2012 and in 2015 she made a two-part Radio 4 documentary about the American writer Amiri Baraka. She is currently Professor of Creative Writing at Brunel University London. She has won several awards, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2004, and she was appointed an MBE in 2009.
