We are currently recruiting two PhD candidates for fully funded projects within DECADOCS, a prestigious and pioneering research and training programme enabled by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks (MSCA-DN) aimed at reinterpreting the concept of decadence. The programme offers tailored intersectoral training in collaboration with museums, archives, galleries, and other partners, reinforcing its scientific and social impact.

The network brings together researchers from 10 leading universities: University of Bourgogne, IUAV University, Goldsmiths University, University of Glasgow, University of Galway, Johannes Gutenberg University, Lusófona University, University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, Polytechnic University of Madrid, and University of Hertfordshire. With 17 associated partners, the project forms an international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral consortium.

Professor Jane Desmarais and Dr Isobel Hurst are seeking candidates to work on two doctoral research projects: ‘Aesthetics of decadence in European Cinema, 1890-1930’ and ‘Decadent Travellers and the Reception of Classical Antiquity in the Nineteenth Century’.

Applications should be made through EURAXESS and the deadline is 20 October 2025.

Interviews will take place online from 17 to 22 November 2025.
