Centre for Identities and Social Justice

Examining the link between education and social inequality.

Drawing together staff and postgraduate students who are interested in researching education and social inequality

Our centre is open to all. Topics currently being researched by members of the group include the ways that beginning teachers deal with racism in their practice, girls and physical education, the workings of permanent exclusion and the intersections of ‘race’, gender and class in reality TV.

The group organises seminars 3 times each term where people from inside and outside of the department present and discuss their work. Members also work together in other ways including preparing papers for publication and research proposals.
