There has been growth in the establishment of local computing industries has been accompanied by an interest in Latin America in the domain of Human-Computer Interaction and User Experience. This interest has embraced topics such as Science and Technology Studies and other sociological and philosophical approaches to understanding the impact of technology on users and on society more broadly.

These insights add value to our Masters curriculum that seeks to promote inclusive and context-specific use of technology and regularly attracts an international cohort. This is why we are offering a partial tuition fee waiver to support applicants from Latina America interested in studying MSc User Experience Engineering.

This fee waiver is open to applicants from Latin America to the MSc User Experience Engineering.

How to apply

You must first apply for and be offered a place on the MSc User Experience Engineering programme. Please note that it can take several weeks for programme applications to be processed and for places to be offered, and no late scholarship applications can be accepted. Candidates should indicate at the point of programme application that they also intend to be considered for the scholarship.

Once you have been offered a conditional or unconditional place on the MSc, you can apply for the scholarship. To do this, please write a short (maximum 500 words) case for support and submit this to Nick Hine n.hine@gold.ac.uk by 9am on 10 July 2023. The case for support should: 

  • Describe the broad areas of UX work and research that you have undertaken since your Bachelors degree (if any) and that you intend to explore at postgraduate level
  • Include some background on your personal journey to a career in UX

Selection process

Applications will be reviewed and the award made by staff teaching on the MSc User Experience Engineering Programme in the Department of Computing.
