Consultancy and contract research

Engage our academics to help you gain new knowledge or apply existing knowledge to help your organisation.

Primary page content

Contract research allows private, public and third sector organisations to commission specific research to gain new knowledge and insight, while Consultancy sees existing knowledge applied to solve a particular challenge or help organisations to meet their objectives.

Our team can help you identify the expertise that could benefit you the most, connect you with relevant academic researchers, and provides end-to-end support in setting and meeting the deliverables for each project.

Projects are costed based on the staff and student time that goes into the project, meaning the size and scale can be tailored to your needs.

Innovation Vouchers

Our Innovation Vouchers scheme provides match-funding for contract research and consultancy projects.

Your company, charity or organisation can apply for Innovation Vouchers of up to £2,500 to match-fund projects with Goldsmiths academics. Depending on the type of organisation, you must provide match-funding of:

  • Charities, public sector or not-for-profit: at least 25%
  • Small or medium enterprises: at least 34%
  • Large enterprises: at least 50%

Funding can be used to cover:

  • Academic staff time for research or consultancy activity
  • Access to specialist equipment or facilities
  • Other reasonable costs at the discretion of the Research and Knowledge Exchange department

Tailored packages

Building on our experience of what works well, we have a number of bespoke consultancy packages for a range of audiences:

People’s history

Capitalising on our unique storytelling methodologies, we work with local authorities and developers to engage with residents and community stakeholders to hear forgotten stories in a given locality. Complementing wider public consultation and engagement activity, this work ensures meaningful, deep-rooted understanding which can feed into local regeneration and development activity.

We work with local authorities, business improvement districts and high street stakeholders to help businesses organise creative and cultural activities which drive footfall, celebrate independent businesses and highlight the diversity of the UK’s incredible high streets.
