Event overview
Feminist Classics Revisited is a series co-hosted by ReproSoc and Department of Sociology at Cambridge University and the Centre for Feminist Research at Goldsmiths. The aim of this series is to return to some early and influential feminist books; to “revisit” them by having conversations about them and with them, with the authors and/or editors present.
The first two events were held at Cambridge University: in 2013 on Ann Oakley’s Sex, Gender and Society (first published in 1972) and in 2014 on Patricia Spallone and Deborah Lynn Steinberg’s Made to Order: the myth of reproductive and genetic progress and Michelle Stanworth’s Reproductive Technologies: gender, motherhood and medicine (both published in 1987).
Feminist Classics Revisited 3 is being hosted by the Centre for Feminist Research on May 1 2015. We will be discussing two texts by Michèle Barrett, The Anti-Social Family (co-authored with Mary McIntosh, first published in 1982) and Women’s Oppression Today (first published in 1980).
The event is free and no registration is necessary.
