The Student-Community Engagement Research Project aims to link up the research needs of voluntary and community sector organisations with the research interests of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department.

It will work with community partners across London and the South East who need research support while offering students an opportunity to undertake a time-limited research project with a community partner.

What areas does this cover

There are a number of areas that the project could offer support for, including:

  • support with evidencing needs of service users or for new services
  • the community needs assessment profiling/auditing and community engagement
  • basic socio-economic demographic data
  • exploring the impact of government policies, such as welfare benefit cuts or healthcare models
  • looking at the health and wellbeing of specific groups (eg older people, children and young people, minority groups, people with learning difficulties etc)
  • developing information access for BAME and other minority groups
  • and more.

This project builds on the expertise it has established to date in making a difference by rooting research in community engagement.
