As Heritage Partner for London Borough of Culture 2022, Goldsmiths led the In Living Memory programme, which supported six community projects to investigate marginalised histories, gather people’s memories, and respond to them creatively.

Designed for teachers for use in the classroom, these adaptable education packs are based on those projects and include detailed lesson plans and supporting resources for Upper Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

The packs are designed to be taught over six weeks, with a variety of outcomes and covering a range of subject areas including History, Geography, Art and Design, English, PSHE and Citizenship Studies. While based on events in Lewisham, they can be used to teach about similar issues anywhere in the country.

The packs were developed with pupils and teachers at Lewisham schools by postgraduate students from Goldsmiths Department of Educational Studies, supervised by Dr Francis Gilbert and Fiona Plant.
