Learning

Learn from world-leading experts, investigate mind and behaviour, and develop rigorous analytical, critical, and evidence-based research skills.

At Goldsmiths, our undergraduate and postgraduate students work closely with world-leading experts, developing their own research interests and projects from day one. Our cutting-edge BSc Psychology programme focuses on the application of psychology and neuroscience to critical contemporary issues, from health and wellbeing to arts, culture and technology. At postgraduate level, students are immersed into specialisms that support exciting career opportunities.

Our undergraduate degrees are accredited by the British Psychological Society and give you eligibility for Graduate Membership for Chartered Membership, which is required to study various postgraduate courses and to become a fully Chartered Psychologist. During your studies, you can join the British Psychological Society at a discounted rate and get involved in the Psychology Society, part of the Goldsmiths Students’ Union.

Skill development is at the heart of our programmes. Our undergraduate research methods training and personal and professional development is seamlessly integrated into themed module blocks, with assessments from practical mini-projects and oral presentations, to writing policy briefs and responding to case studies. Across our courses, you will build public speaking, presentation, and writing skills, producing everything from academic essays to popular science articles and poster presentations.

You will also gain strong research training, learning the scientific method, critical thinking, research design, and statistical analysis you need to produce exceptional work and stand out in your field.

You will have access to a comprehensive suite of platforms and behavioural measures to support your psychological research. These include Qualtrics, Gorilla for online data collection, and a full test battery.

You’ll also benefit from state-of-the-art EEG (Electroencephalogram), Biosignals, and Virtual Reality laboratory facilities, which you can use for your dissertation and research projects.

Throughout the academic year, students and staff are inspired by internal and guest speakers in our seminar series, exploring cutting-edge research across all areas of psychology.

You will experience psychology in action through hands-on activities including Forest Schools, forensic investigations, and museum or gallery visits.

Psychology and neuroscience are truly interdisciplinary areas of study and open up both traditional and diverse career options.

Traditional options include clinical, counselling, educational, forensic, occupational, and research psychology.

The critical, analytical, and statistical skills you will develop through studying these subjects will make you strong candidates for a wide range of roles across all sectors. Career guidance is embedded into all our programmes from the very first term.

At Goldsmiths, you’ll immerse yourself in a subject you love within a welcoming and creative campus community.

Based in South East London, our vibrant setting connects you directly to the capital’s business, technology, and cultural networks. Your learning goes far beyond the classroom through partnerships, guest lectures, and real-world industry experience.

You’ll be supported by inspiring academics, dedicated staff, and fellow students who are passionate about making a difference. And because we’re in London – ranked the world’s number one student city (QS Best Student Cities 2025) – you’ll benefit from our close links with some of the capital’s leading creative and cultural organisations.
