Learning
Our teaching is led by active practitioners, including game developers, immersive media specialists, and UX designers, who bring current industry knowledge into the classroom. Learning is practice-based, with a focus on real-world application, collaborative projects, and critical engagement with technology.
You can benefit from access to specialist laboratories, high-performance PCs, VR/AR equipment, and collaborative studio spaces. These facilities replicate professional environments, enabling students to develop confidence with the tools and processes used across the games, immersive media, and UX industries. Explore our computing labs and facilities.
You'll also have access to specialist software, online learning platforms, and dedicated support for developing digital and entrepreneurial skills. In addition, campus-wide services include the Library, Careers Service, and Goldsmiths’ Digital Studios, which provide training and resources for content production and communication.
We host guest lectures, workshops, and industry-linked projects with partners across the games, immersive, and design sectors. The School of Computing has been home to the largest in-person site for the Global Game Jam, and hosts international events such as the AI and Games Conference. Students can also join the teaching staff on field trips to industry-relevant events.
Our curriculum is grounded in hands-on, practice-based learning, with a strong emphasis on real-world application.
Students develop expertise in areas such as game development, game design, virtual and augmented reality, and user experience engineering, while building critical frameworks to understand the social, cultural, and ethical dimensions of interactive technologies. This dual focus ensures graduates are not only technically proficient, but also able to create interactive experiences that are meaningful, inclusive, and impactful.
Graduates have gone on to careers with leading companies including EA, Ubisoft, Sony, Creative Assembly, Microsoft, Splash Damage, Punchdrunk, Tencent, and NetEase. Many also work in UX consultancies, immersive media start-ups, and research labs. Roles span development, design, production, and research. The visa students enrolled in the Internship pathway will also be able to work full-time during their studies.
