The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 show that four of our academic subjects are in the top 50 worldwide, with Communication and Media Studies at 18, Art and Design at 26 and Performing Arts and History of Art included in the range.

The inclusion of 10 subject areas is up from last year’s nine, with Politics and International Studies now included.

Other areas to appear in the ranking, which reflects broad subject areas offered at Goldsmiths, are Anthropology, Education, English Language and Literature, Psychology and Sociology.

We have seen a rise of 19 places to take our Arts and Humanities Faculty ranking to 122 globally.

The analysis shows that in the UK we are placed third for Communication and Media Studies and fifth for Art and Design, with Performing Arts at 11.

The analysis provides independent comparative analysis on the performance of more than 18,300 individual university programmes, taken by students at more than 1,700 universities in 100 locations around the world, across 55 academic disciplines.
