Andrés’ research interests are in social and political philosophy, Marxism, critical social theory, the history of social and political thought, post-Kantian philosophy, ethics and aesthetics. He is currently working on topics related to violence, technology and ecological crisis.

He has held teaching positions at University College London, Central Saint Martins, Newcastle and Northeastern University London, as well as visiting research appointments at the University of Amsterdam's School for Cultural Analysis and UCL's Institute of Advanced Studies. Between 2020-2022 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the UNAM's College of Philosophy in Mexico City.

Research interests

Andrés is the author of Subsumption in Kant, Hegel & Marx: From the Critique of Reason to the Critique of Society (Brill, 2024) and editor of Marx & the Critique of Humanism (Bloomsbury, 2026). His writing has also appeared in journals such as Radical Philosophy, Language Sciences and the European Journal of Social Theory. He is co-director of The Philosopher, Britain’s longest running public philosophy journal (founded in 1923).

Andrés’ research has been supported by grants from the British Academy, Arts & Humanities Research Council, Natural Environment Research Council, Mexican Foreign Office and Northeastern University's Humanities Center.
