Afua Hirsch is a professor of journalism at the University of Southern California, an award-winning writer, journalist, and filmmaker renowned for exp

With 30 years of experience, she has been a senior correspondent and contributor to the Guardian, an anchor at Sky News, and associate editor at British Vogue, while also writing for publications such as the New York Times and National Geographic.

Afua hosts the BBC documentary Africa Rising and co-hosts the acclaimed Enslaved series with Samuel L. Jackson. She founded Born In Me, a production company dedicated to representing black experiences. She co-hosts the Legacy podcast and hosts Audible’s We Need To Talk About the British Empire. Her books include Brit(ish), Equal To Everything, Empire: Look Again, and Decolonising My Body.

Afua holds a PPE degree from Oxford and is a bencher at Middle Temple, She has been voted one of the ten most influential black people in the UK and the 100 most influential people of African descent in the world.
