Dr Patsy Hickman is an artist and writer, who was made an honorary fellow of Goldsmiths in 2022.

She was born in Pennsylvania and moved to England aged five.

After bringing up eight children she returned to education and this led to writing, initially at Birkbeck College, followed by a Masters at Middlesex and the completion of her PhD in the Department of English and Creative Writing at Goldsmiths between 2006-2011.

As an artist, Patsy produces bronze, ceramic and wire sculpture, drawings, political cartoons, flint paintings and a little portraiture.

In 2020 she loaned Listening, a bronze sculpture created as a response to the refugee crisis, to Goldsmiths for display in the Richard Hoggart Building.

As a friend and advocate of the College, Hickman has offered her generous support over many years and to many causes.
