Director Emeritus of the Design Museum, Professor Deyan Sudjic OBE, was made an honorary fellow of Goldsmiths in 2024.

Deyan was born in London and studied architecture in Edinburgh. He has worked as a critic – writing for newspapers including the Guardian and the Financial Times – curator and educator. He edited Domus magazine in Milan, directed the Venice Architecture Biennale, and the Glasgow Year of Architecture and Design.

He has curated exhibitions on Zaha Hadid, Ettore Sottsass, and Stanley Kubrick among others. His books, which include The Language of Cities and a biography of Stalin’s architect, have been published in 16 languages.  

Having held a Professorship in Vienna, and the role of Dean of the Faculty of Art Architecture and Design at Kingston, he is now Director Emeritus of the Design Museum in London, which he led during its move to a new building; Distinguished Professor of Architecture and Design Studies at Lancaster University; and Editor of Anima, a new magazine on design.
