Former Mayor of the Borough of Lewisham for 16 years, Sir Steve Bullock DL, was awarded an honorary fellowship from Goldsmiths in 2018.

Sir Steve Bullock has played a major role in helping shape and lead the community around Goldsmiths over the last four decades.

As Mayor of the Borough of Lewisham from 2002 to 2018, his links to local politics extend back to 1982 when he first served on the Borough Council.

In his time as Mayor, Sir Steve, who was knighted in 2007 for services to local government, launched the Young Mayor programme and also helped lead the successful fight to save Lewisham A&E. In May 2018, Sir Steve was commissioned to be a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London. 

In 2019, he was awarded the Borough of Lewisham's highest honour - the Freedom of the Borough of Lewisham - in recognition of his long service to the borough and its residents over many years.
