Frequently asked questions about starting at Goldsmiths

Still have questions about starting at Goldsmiths? You may find the answer below. We'll keep adding to this list as new questions come in.

Before you arrive

Enrolment takes place online and involves confirming your details and uploading your documents through MyGoldsmiths. You can find a step-by-step guide on how to complete enrolment here.

Registration is the final step, where you come onto campus in person to show your original ID and receive your student card. To do this you must come in at the time specified for your course, which you can find here

If you're joining us in September 2026, you'll receive an email invitation to enrol sometime in August. These go out in batches depending on your course and when you applied, so don't worry if a friend on a different course gets theirs before you do. If you're expecting yours and it hasn't turned up, it's worth checking your spam or junk folder first.

Within a few days of completing your online enrolment you will receive an email letting you know your Goldsmiths IT account and @gold.ac.uk email has been activated. We will continue to email your personal email address with information you need before starting your course but it is a good idea to check both.

Once you have completed enrolement you will be able to access letters that prove you are a student by going on the 'My Letters' tab on MyGoldsmiths. These can be used to exempt you from council tax (if you live alone, or only with other students) or to open a student bank account. More information can be found here

You'll likely be required to attend school and/or programme inductions during your first week — search for your programme here to find out when that is.

We've also organised a variety of exciting events during Welcome Week to help you get acquainted with your surroundings, meet new people, and discover valuable resources before term gets underway. You can find a list of events here
