Catch 22 – an exhibition showcasing work by the scholarship recipients

Juan Alejandre, Nicole Di, Teg Dore and Sofía Serpa Arango were the first graduates to receive the studio scholarships, granting them 6 months free studio space, with the aim of supporting recent graduates facing financial barriers as they establish their creative practice. A year on from finishing their courses at Goldsmiths, this show 'Catch-22' is a chance to see what they've been working on since.

Catch-22 references the paradoxical labyrinth of entering the art world, which this scholarship opportunity has helped them navigate. The exhibition is at Print House Gallery in East London throughout July.

Scholarship programme will continue for a second year

The programme will continue for a second year, meaning that another group of young artists will be supported with 6 months of free space from V22 to continue their practice after graduation.

V22 operates a network of over 50 studios across London, including studios in Catford, Hither Green, Forest Hill, Orpington, Stoke Newington, Dalston and Hackney Wick, with first cohort of scholarship-holders having been based at locations in Hither Green and Hackney Wick.

The team at V22 Studios shared: "We are delighted to be offering the V22 x Goldsmiths Studio Scholarship for a second year in a row."

The first year has shown exactly why this kind of support matters. The artists who joined us through the programme have used the time, space and stability of a studio to continue developing their practice at a crucial point after graduation, and it has been a real pleasure to see their work evolve.

“The exhibition we are putting together with them feels like the right way to mark the end of the programme. It is not only a celebration of their individual practices, but also a reminder that affordable studio space can make a tangible difference to emerging artists trying to build a sustainable creative life in London.

“At V22, we believe that supporting artists means more than providing space. It means creating the conditions in which creative practice can continue, grow and be shared with the wider public. That sits at the heart of our vision of Keeping Creativity Central, and we are very pleased to continue this partnership with Goldsmiths into 2026.”

Anthony Crowther, Enterprise Hub Manager in Research and Knowledge Exchange at Goldsmiths, added: "This Studio Scholarship with V22 is a great example of a collaborative and innovative partnership, which allows V22 to further their mission to support artists through providing one of the essentials any artist needs to thrive: a place to work, and also supporting our students as they graduate and step outside of the university to embark on their professional journeys."
