Kate Morris, Lecturer in Journalism at Goldsmiths, University of London, has been appointed to the UK Government’s Media Literacy Taskforce Steering Board.

Kate Morris, convenor of BA Journalism

The Board has been established to take a coordinated approach to tackling challenges in the media literacy sector, extending the reach of media literacy education to citizens who are currently disengaged or do not have access to support.

Kate Morris is a news journalist with over 15 years' experience on local, regional and national publications and is programme convenor of the BA Journalism programme at Goldsmiths.

She joins government-appointed experts from across academia, civil society, tech companies, regulators, and media organisations on the Board.

Kate Morris said: “I am delighted to be able to share my research expertise with those working in the media literacy sector. In joining this group of experts I hope that, together, we can improve media literacy rates across the UK.”
