I really got to witness myself improve academically and I was able to take the knowledge I learned into my professional practice too.
Expansive experience and professional growth
I deeply enjoyed my time on the MA Social Justice in Education. It is so expansive and in-depth, covering a range of topics and all the teaching staff work really hard to make topics engaging while also helping to develop their students critical thinking and research skills.
Something I enjoyed about studying at Goldsmiths on this MA was just how tangible my growth was. I really got to witness myself improve academically and I was able to take the knowledge I learned into my professional practice too.
Broad contemporary curriculum
Another aspect I enjoyed was being able to take modules from other MA programmes.
For example, I took a module that is taught on the MA Arts and Learning course, which allowed me to explore learning in arts and museum contexts - something I have a bit of professional experience in and wasn't expecting to be able to learn on the course.
Overall, all the academic and teaching staff are so passionate about the transformative potential of education and the issues facing it today.
Whether you're a teacher, working within higher education like me, or even working for an education/community focused charity, this MA really has something for everyone who cares about education and social justice within our society.
Well-connected area with green spaces
I have lived in South East London for over 3 years now and I really love it. I really like living within such a short commuting distance to central London while benefiting from the quieter and greener parts of south London.
Life after Goldsmiths
I am currently working as a lead in Widening Participation and Outreach for a university within their Student Success team.
I hope to progress in this role to be able to support the university to write and implement their Access and Participation plans, and potentially one day do a PhD in my MA Dissertation topic.
Advice for future students
Challenge yourself to study topics/modules you might not be as knowledgeable in or interested in at first. You will gain so much and surprise yourself with how much you come out wanting to know more, or even pursue those topics further within your education or career!
