A unique curriculum

I remember looking at more traditional universities and their reading lists and just feeling slightly uninspired by them. Chaucer really isn’t my bag. American lit offered up such rich and diverse reading materials, I was immediately drawn in.

A lasting impact

The degree’s most lasting legacy on me was to introduce me to Tony Kushner’s Angels in America- I immediately fell in love with this genre of AIDS literature and activism. That’s when you know you’ve hit on something really special, you’ll come away from a lecture or seminar and find you just want to devour everything ever written in that genre.

Life beyond Goldsmiths

I’m a TV producer and director in unscripted TV. I’ve produced and directed on Channel 4’s First Dates as well as a bunch of Come Dine with Me.

My role demands thinking on my feet and excellent interpersonal skills.

My favourite part of the job is conducting interviews with contributors. I LOVE when someone tells you something they’ve never told anyone else before. I am constantly fascinated by people, so to sit opposite them and fire away questions all day long is not only a privilege but my idea of heaven.

Advice to future students

Throw yourself into it- and I don’t just mean the degree, I mean the social side. I went to probably EVERY Club Sandwich there ever was (that was the club night that happened every Wednesday at Goldsmiths' SU).

It was here that I would meet the guy who got me my first runners’ job in TV (I KNEW all those hangovers would be worth it in the end).

Convenient location

It is super easy to get into Central London, but also super easy to just stay in New Cross and hang out with friends at the pub.
