Advice for future students

For student wanting to do a PhD, I would advise that it is a tough and demanding experience but it is also a time in your life dedicated to studying something that you enjoy, which is a privilege.

The Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studiest has amazing people for supervisors.

PhD research

My research project focuses on Latinx women’s experiences of mobile dating apps to understand how issues such as social inequalities, gendered violence, neocolonialism, migration and racialisation are present when mediating intimacy online.

Studying in London

I have been living in London for almost six years and it is a brutal city to live in!

Brutal for the size, breadth and movement. But also brutal in a good way with an amazing cuisine, cultural offer, diverse people and places.

It is a great city to live in once you find your places you like, community and support networks - which you hopefully will as a student!
