Dan's time at Goldsmiths

The quality and range of teaching was amazing. The department felt diverse in approaches and techniques, all valuable in different ways. The level of thought and care that went into each syllabus and reading list, and then how to learn from each other in seminars, was fantastic. It was transformative; I felt like I had learned how to read, listen and learn all over again.

South East London experience

Nice area. Lively, good university presence but not completely dominated by the uni. Decent pubs, some nice places to eat, easy access to central London.

Life since graduating

I am currently working at a young company that helps businesses make better decisions on their climate impact. My background before Goldsmiths had been in design and consulting, and I'd worked in commercial environments before. Studying the political economy of the Anthropocene gave me enough of a grounding not to be intimidated by working in climate change, which can be really technical.

Advice for future students

Read things closely and carefully, never be afraid to ask questions, and ask for advice on how to take notes when you're reading.
