Main details

Year graduated 2014
Department Sociology
Country Colombia

Goldsmiths is the inspiring context for exploring the dialog between social sciences and creative practices I expected it to be. The MA in Critical and Creative Analysis, in particular, is giving me a unique flexibility for developing my current interests. The discussions in sociology enable me to understand more profoundly the theoretical debates around cultural memory as well as the role of the visual in academia. At the same time, the courses in screen documentary are a challenging context for my practical work on audiovisual representations of memory.

Overall, the openness of the professors and the motivation and engagement of the students are turning this year into an incredible experience. I am convinced it will provide me with the necessary tools for continuing my research in a PhD as well as to contribute to the efforts of memory construction in Colombia's post-conflict scenario.
